Highlights
Managing a remote enterprise branch or small business network can be challenging due to various factors, including limited visibility of connected devices, time constraints, inadequate tools for LAN management, and a shortage of skilled personnel. The FortiSwitch Secure Access family seamlessly integrates Ethernet networking with advanced security features, effectively eliminating the silos that complicate day-to-day management. With its rich feature set, ease of management, and low total cost of ownership, FortiSwitch is the optimal choice for remote enterprise branch and small business Ethernet networks.
FortiLink is an innovative proprietary management protocol that enables seamless integration and management between a FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall and the FortiSwitch Ethernet switching platform. Through FortiLink, the FortiSwitch becomes a logical extension of the FortiGate, allowing for centralized management of both network security and access layer functions via a single interface.
FortiLink integration provides basic NAC functionality to profile and securely onboard devices as they connect. FortiLink NAC offers visibility into all connected devices, automated segmentation and security policies for IoT devices, quarantine capabilities if compromised, and virtual patching to protect against threats.
Built-in Ethernet Port Security
Traditional Ethernet port security often requires manual effort and continuous maintenance, making it impractical for IT administrators managing remote branches or small businesses. As a result, Ethernet ports are frequently left unprotected. FortiSwitch access switching provides IT administrators with the tools to secure ports, ensuring that only approved users and devices can access the network. By automating port security without the need for 802.1x, policy enforcement becomes easy to implement and manage, while Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) policies ensure granular control and zero-trust access for users and devices.
User- and Device-Based Access Control and Policy Enforcement
Whether utilizing Fortinet Identity Access Management (IAM) or third-party identity providers, FortiLink automation can leverage user identity to make granular role-based policy decisions. This allows for the implementation of zero-trust principles, ensuring that access is tightly controlled and policies are enforced based on user roles.
Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
The FortiSwitch enterprise architecture includes a built-in foundation for zero-trust network access (ZTNA) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). This architecture offers the flexibility to easily deploy the type and level of security required at the edge of your network, supporting a scalable and secure infrastructure.
